had a stock 81 xs650, and turned it into this.
does anybody know where i can get a nice simple triple tree? the stock one looks disgusting.

Yeah, those great big holes aren't much good to you if your not using them for sure!
I put welsh plugs (core plugs, engine block water jacket blocker uperers, whatever you guys call them) in mine. Tapped them up from the bottom & painted high gloss black, looks mint.
ust be some cool billet jobbies around though as well, somewhere!

Ive never seen anyone who actually sells a custom clamp to replace the top tree. You could probably get one made by a machine shop. just bring them the top clamp and use those exact dimensions and just dont have them cut any other holes except the ones you need. Could be expensive, but depends on the shop. or have some aluminum plates cut out and welded into those holes. yamaman's idea is pretty sweet though and probably best bang for the buck.

What exactly you mean by simple ?
One wihtout a lock mechanism receptacle ?
Without a guage set ear ?
Without a handlebar hole set ? These 2 is katana 600/750 fork leg swap for sure. You get better suspension and a nicer 17inch front wheel.

i just meant the clamp actually. just one without a a ton of holes and is flat.
