Can anyone tell me if you are able to push the clutch pin in by hand?
I purchased my 82 heritage special not running and tore the bike down. the previous owner put in a new clutch i guess but i don't know if its been ran since that in fact maybe thats why the bike has been sitting. the gasket on the clutch side of the engine cover looks brand new but I don't know a lot about these clutches and have been trying to do some research but have come up short on a answer for the force required to push the pin... i cannot do it by hand. what would most likely be the cause of this?

the six springs that squeeze the plates (drive & driven) are fairly stout you would have a hard time squeezing one of them let alone all six, even with the mechanical advantage provided by the worm gear the clutch pull isn't the lightest, you won't push it by hand

these clutches will freeze up sometimes after sitting around and need a small wack on the pushrod(use a block of wood).Aftermarket springs will also make it tough, old springs or new springs your not gonna do it by hand.
