Hi Jayel,

I don't know whether to cry or faint! I **LOVE** Nortons!!

Granted, it's not pre-unit, and it hasn't Lucas/Smiths/Amal disease--(adds character!)--but it has that beautiful "Norton" logo on the tank, and it's even made in England!

Now, where did I put that lottery ticket.....? Very Happy Very Happy

well if it handles like the old Nortons (probably better with all the new stuff) but the difference in what was and what we remember are two separate things Laughing they will sell all they make
here's a unit constructed

Their website shows two models. For the other model it says 170 hp and 290 lbs. A Hayabusa is 170 hp and 500 lbs.

"...we will make a further announcement to inform you if the bike will be limited to our works race team or if it will be made available into a road going bike..."

All they have to do is figure out what the turn signals should look like...

I don't know much about British bikes, but in general there aren't many things made in England that I'd select as my one shot protection from the grim reaper Smile

Climb aboard a well-fettled Commando, XJ. I stress the "well-fettled", to dip into Brit verbage for a second. They obviously are only as good as their previous owner, but I've taken Commandos from Seattle to San Diego, turned left and headed for Salt Lake City, turned a bit left again and headed back to Seattle, and had nary a bit of trouble. Seriously. I have a photo of one of my Commandos at the top of Conway Pass on I-395, at over 8000 feet and she ran just fine. Same bike at sea level would idle and pull smoothly up to red-line.

This new Norton looks fantastic, and the power-to-weight ratio should be a wake-up call to Italy and Japan. So you add 40 lbs for road gear? The average rider--me, for example--wouldn't know the difference, and with that sort of horsepower on tap, wouldn't care! I'd be out hunting 'Busa's right after break-in!!

Have I mentioned that I love Nortons? Oh, yeah!! Very Happy

80 horses & 188kg (415 lb) for the new Commando

The NRV588 rotary racer has 170 hp & weighs in at 130 kg (290ish lb)

Here's the spec sheet for the Commando:

www.nortonmotorcycles....1-spec.php

If it wasn't for british bikes XJWMX, we'd all be riding Harleys & Virago's.
England surely has had the most influence on bikes over the past century. Sure BMW have been there, maybe the MV's & later Ducati's. But Triumph, Norton, BSA, AJS, Matchless, Brough, Vincent and a host of others are what bought us here to where we are today!
