charging issues

Hey folks:

y 79' XS650 won't charge. I just bought a 72' XS650 hoping that some of the components (electrical) would be useful for my 79'. Does anyone know how compatible STATORS from other years are for the 79'. What year stators and rectifiers can be used for the 79'?

If the 72' stator won't work on my 79' does anyone know what years will work?

David: You can check the Yamaha part number by going to the site below and find your part by year. Then hit checkout and there will be the Yamaha part number. Of course you won't buy it. Then type in the other year and do the same thing. Compare numbers. I think they will work but I have been wrong before.
