These Avons have been reccomended and I'm going to give them a try on my stock '77. 90/9019 front and 110/90/18 would be close to the manual spec 3.5" front and 4" rear. My excellent local mechanic says I could use a 100/90 front with a 120/90 rear. There would be a bit of a heavier or slower steering feel with the wider ones I'd guess, but they'd probably look better......
Has anyone tried either?
Thanks
Alan

Your front tire, the size to match a 3.50-19 tire is 100/90-19. the 90/90 is more of a 3.00 tire. on the rear a 120 may or may not fit. Tires can vary from the nominal specs by a small bit. A 120 from one brand and model of tire can be wider or narrower than the same size in a different tire. even the same brand.
I had a 120 Dunlop on my 75 when I got it, it fit fine. I was going to put a 120 Kenda Challenger on to replace the Dunlop, I had to use a 110, the 120 wouldn't fit without rubbing.
I'm not sure how much difference just one size will make. A large difference Like from a 110 to a 130 might be noticeable. The sport bikes use much wider tires and they handle well.
