Okay so my 1975 has recently started running really rough at start up, like i have no power or not getting enough gas to engine. I recently lost the boot on my right side while on a poker run, i just jammed the wire on to the spark plug and it seemed to fix the issue. Does this sound like and electrical issue? is it because i jammed the wire to the plug or is it gas? I am thinking weak spark because of the backfire and blue flames pointing to un-burnt gas. Any help would be appreciated.

The plug creates resistance, I dont know what that means, or what it would cause in your cause, but I do know that you need a spark plug. lol.

I might suggest going through the carbs and replace both plug wires and get new plug caps. With a points type ignition you can use a non resistor plug cap. Getting a cheap set of plug wires for a car and cutting a pair to fit will work ok and give you extras.
