New to the motorcycle experience at 39. Better late than never. My wife assures me it is a mid life crisis, I on the other hand chalk it up to experiencing a new found freedom. Bought the bike off Craigslist, needs a few minor repairs headlight (in progress), fusebox (complete), new front tire (complete), cam chain tightened (in progress), and new air filters (on order), thanks MikesXS. Bike is very straight and runs well. Some of you have already assisted me with troubleshooting and I am waiting for the day when a good easy simplified wiring diagram is posted so I can clean out the headlight bucket. As I spend time on this site I realize many of you are artists in your own right. It is amazing what many of you are doing with your project bikes and what many of you know about these classics. I am appreciative of all of the expertise on this site, and someday maybe I can help a newbie with an ignition problem, a charging problem, or a mechanical issue. Not sure I'll ever be to the level of building new frames and welding, better leave that to the pros. Here's looking forward to future "chatting."

You can find some great wiring diagrams here: Forums/The Vault/Wiring Diagrams

Just about anything you could ask has already been covered by someone or a bunch of someones. Check in the vault or do a search. The knowledge already stored here is mind-numbing.

Welcome to the asylum...er, club.

Welcome! Better late than never.

y wife mentions mid life crisis once and awhile. In my case I seem to be into all the bikes I wanted when I was younger(late teens), I'm up to seven at the moment.

teebs, you're scaring me Cool

39 is not mid-life. Now, you might be having some kind of young whippersnapper crisis. That I can't speak to.

I wouldn't simplify the wiring unless there was what I considered a good reason to, like making a chopper, where the idea is to strip everything off. If you're worried about the rat's nest in the headlight bucket, it's easy to clean and grease those connectors, and it's all hidden from view....

Some (women mostly) might call it mid-life crisis. I call it, " I can afford it now."
