Picked up this bike last winter, havnt had time to work on it, but have made some progress in the last few days... Here are some pics of when i got it, and how it sits right now.

Looks good.

What do you plan on using to remove all that scaley stuff off the engine covers?

Guess the sand blaster will work huh? Just asking cause I got a motor in the same shape!

I used steel wool and laquer thinner to clean up the side covers on mine.

ost of the scale what was left of the factory clear coat.

I powdercoat, so i will be glass beading the motor/ alum parts, then on the side cover they will most likely end up gloss, flat, or wrinkle black.


I had actually already removed most of the oxidation on the side cover by using a 3m type scotch brite pad. works great on aluminum dirtbike frames too where the boots rub..etc
