Motley Crue's first album 'Too Fast For Love' is a good one and so is their last 'Saints of Los Angeles' -- I wouldn't give you two cents for anything in between.

Anything by Saxon between '79 and '84.

Motorhead before Fast Eddie Clark bailed -- '75 to '82.

UFO during the Schenker years -- '74 to '79.

Accept 'Restless and Wild' -- '82.

Kiss -- Pre-Post Makeup Years.

Sammy Hagar from his stint in Montrose through his last decent solo album 'Standing Hampton'.

As for just good ole' fashioned Rock-n-Roll:

James Gang.

Joe Walsh.

Allman Brothers.

Steely Dan -- All studio albums, there isn't one single, solitary stinker in the bunch.

Derek and the Dominos

Uriah Heap.

Mountain.

this list could go on and on.

Now I'm just taking a wild guess here, I think you're between 43 and 46 years old.

I like most everyone you mentioned and actually have seen a few of them in concert. What about these:

Remember this Japanese band? They opened up for Motley Crue in 1985 or 86 and dare I say were better.

Accept was way under rated! I got to see them way back when, I think they came with saxon.

Great thread RG, I've really gotten to appreciate most types of music these days.

I'm 48 and some in that list are a little after me but I did see UFO in concert..I think with Blue Oyster Cult. And I've seen KISS . Never was a big fan of theirs though. Aaah the memories and the fun we had.
From Steely Dan- Josie

We're gonna break out the hats and hooters
When Josie comes home
We're gonna rev up the motor scooters
When Josie comes home to stay
We're gonna park in the street
Sleep on the beach and make it
Throw down the jam till the girls say when
Lay down the law and break it
When Josie comes home

Hi Guys,

Well, I'm dating myself here (why not--no one else will....) Very Happy

Back in the Neolithic Age, when bike riders RODE and didn't have iPod's or whatever, we actually sang the songs we liked as we rode along. My favorite was Cream--"Sunshine Of Your Love" yelling as loud as I could while weaving in and out of traffic next to my brother--him on his Norton and me on my BSA A10 Rocket.

Other fav's were "Terror of Highway 101", and Roy Orbison (I think) singing "Two Wheels A'Turnin"----was that the name or just the first line? I dunno, there were a lot of interesting and mostly illegal distractions back then....

Actually, it's not the songs so much as the memories the songs invoke. I remember when they first made it mandatory to have headlights on all the time, and we used to ride the old Brit bikes without the lights until we'd see a cop, and he'd usually just point at the light, and we'd turn it on until he was out of sight---good old Lucas didn't like running all the time, even with a magneto providing sparks so the alternator (or Magdyno) only had to light the lights.....

Of course, the original song is one I've loved for years: "In my opinion there's nothing in the World beats a '52 Vincent and a red-haired girl." So....where's my Vincent? Somehow I can't see me being called "Red Barbie"---except if it got me a Vincent---even a ride on the pillion of a Vincent (I"m not proud...)

Gee, I wish I was 25 again.....and again..... Wink

Barb I think it's called "Ride away" Roy Orbison is one of my favorites too.

I think Richard Thompson actually wrote 1952 Vincent Black Lightning. So far I haven't heard anyone's version I didn't like.

I keep thinking of this old song every time I get back to working on my XS. May have eaten too many paint chips as a child.
