Couple of questions about my wiring harness

I'm cleaning up my harness and I found a few things I wanted to ask you guys about.
First, there is a bunch of spliced wires like in picture 1 in my harness. Should I solder those or leave them alone?
Second, whats the thing in the second picture? Is it stock or did the PO install it?

yes solder those splices, and yes that diode is supposed to be in there connected betwween a light blue and a blue/yellow... that upper pic PO has tied into a blue/yellow that is the clutch/side stand relay wire WTF can't tell the other wire do you have any extra equipment on the bike that those wires might go to? secret kill switch? here's a wiring dia. diode is center of pic above alternator little circle with triangle thing

No extra the equipment that I can see. Thanks for the wiring diagram. Much easier to work with than the one in my manual. I'll see if I can figure out the splices tomorrow.
