What's everyones favorite method of freeing an engine that's stuck, presumably, from just sitting so long?

first pull the head, only one side is usually stuck from sitting with the valves open,
cover the top of the piston with penatrating oil, MMO or pj blaster heat the cylinder about where the rings are using a propane torch,
moving it around to heat as evenly as possible until the oil starts smoking, let it cool and the oil will draw into the ring area

I had a stuck one. I left it in the frame and sprayed the pj blaster in the spark plug holes. Take the round left alternator cover off to get a wrench on the crank. Rock the crank back and forth until it frees up. It may need to soak for several days or weeks. I left mine in the frame to be able to get more leverage. Once it is free you will be able to get the jugs off. You can also do the heat method as Jayel described with the head on and motor in the frame. Taking the head off does have an advantage because you may also have stuck valves.
