Thanks for the help. As soon as you hear the cause I'm sure you going to say "I'd of checked that first!" Well I did check it early, but not first and not very well either. I was having an intermittent head light problem. Some times it would work and sometimes not. Usually it would work after I "fixed" something, for a while. And of course the stinking reserve lighting unit would light that stinking white idiot light....So last Sunday I finally got a chance to work on it again and after checking connections in the headlight for the 10th time decided to revisit the HI/LO beam switch. This time I actually took it completely apart and noticed of the two "floating" contacts only one floated. The smaller of the two seemed to be stuck. It seems the the spring had given up and after only 27 years and 50 some thousand miles. I swapped it with a younger 26 year old spring. It works. I'm really glad to get it back on the road. It is a heck of a bike, and my favorite. whynot2 SG & H
