I'm aware that several of you have been looking for a good price and condition SR 500. I've long wanted one too but a bum knee rules out a kick only bike for me...............so:
www.ksl.com/index.php?...d=&cat=144
this 78' is about 20 miles away from me and I'd be glad to help...truck, bike trailer, garage etc. should anyone have serious interest? Best, Blue
Update: Bike is titled, registered and running

Just build a second floor on the garage with a ramp up, park it up there and coast it down to start it.

Hey Blue,
Wow. If I didn't have my '79 that needs the cash infusion, I'd be all over that little 500 single! I love singles--as if that weren't obvious.
No offense, John--I just think more than one or two cylinders is superfluous. Too many carbs to synch, too many valves to adjust....a four-banger is two good engines forced to live together without benefit of clergy....
I'd love to have that little 500, though!

What's the top speed of that Trike with all of the added weight?
45mph in 11-1/2 minutes with a good tail wind and a 3 mile 60% downhill grade before you hit the straightway?
Sorry -- I've been down that path before.
It's been my experience that the left wheel usually tries to torque your arse West into the briarpatch just as soon as you shift into 3rd.
Well, that and the chain slaps the heel off of your left boot in panic stops.

cars have drive shafts uk uk uk. drive shafts are made for lazy people who cant maintain a chain or clean up after them. they suck. jump up when you roll the throttle on in a corner. and even worse are the 3 cylinder models. they wobble with crankshaft firing and jump up. Just dont get it. why would ya. Oh I know its the old man syndrom setting in. smoothness ya sure all 4 cylinders are smooth if you compare them to a parelell or vtwin. Besides vibration is where it is at, just ask any honest woman.

Just hoping when I roll it on she doesnt jump up and down too much and throw me off as I enter the curves because I like it smooth with my drive shaft so there isn't a mess to clean up when the old man syndrome sets in......just ask any honest woman.....

XJ is a better bike but the SR is a better investment long term wise and a neat bike. I ride a 78 XT500 around town and really like it. You wouldnt want to do any touring on it though, at least I wouldnt. The seat is abutt burner
