How hard would it be to fav a standard seat (78) to fit on an 80 special. I know the frame's different but with enough monkeying around could I make it happen??

You mean a standard fitted to an SE ? Ive got a standard 'Roadster' seat on my SE frame , it fits perfect, youll need to change the side-panels though as the SE panels are 'sloped/angled ' to follow the slightly lower contour of the SE seat edge...

A standard seat will swap easily to a 1980 Special II,but not a 1980 Special. The Special from 1980 on had a lift off seat, whereas the 1980 Special II had a hinged seat carried over from the 1978 SE and 1979 SF models. I still think the standard seat will fit a modified Special frame. I am going to try this also..
