Went to an auction today...4 used Pgh Police Harleys were up for auction...3 in good shape with some kind of two wheeled trailer attachments part of the package...looked like attachments to make the bikes able to pull trailers cause each had a trailer ball included...4th was slightly wrecked missing the fiberglass bags and seat bent in a vee...ouch...auction prices for first three bikes $8K TO $8.5K...wrecked one $4700...was fun to watch but out of my price range for used and no warranty(I'm a cheapskate)...they were 2005's with an average of 20K miles so they were probably a bargain...never even considered Road Kings in my youth but man they look good and comfy now...guess I've graduated to an Old Fart.

Here they are getting rid of any non HD police bikes as I hear they are wanting to have all the same. I know they used to run Some Kaw KZ1000Ps and here in the last couple weeks I saw there was a cop riding one of those Honda ST11or1300 models. Another reason might be that there is an HD plant here in town so maybe they are getting a deal? The last auction I saw here locally there were only the KZ1000P bikes for sale and if I recall they had a fair amount of miles on the clock. Did those HDs have a lot of miles?

I still don't understand how to post pix but I have some from the auction flyer website. Anyone can explain to me, like I'm 6 years old and not more proficient on computers than parents or grandparents.

That seems kinda high(price) to me. A couple of locals buy them clean all the extra baggage off and a paint job for resale. They were giving about half that. I guess word got out about the auctions.

Rumor has it that city employees are no longer allowed to buy auctioned vehicles due to past scemes. Player would bid til he won then at the cashiers only would be charged a couple of hundred. Sweet deals.

I guess that's what happens when the cell rings in the middle of my posting. PLUS I have CRS.

i was working in the city sewer when the city decided to buy harleys for the police for the first time. they bought them at fleet prices by going in with other cities so they could buy in bulk. my city only bought 3 of them and they anticipated that the bikes would sell for more come auction time then what they had paid for them. i seriously doubt the HDs would out perform the kawi's but it made good financial sense to say the least. the funniest part of the deal to me was watching the motor cops who had senority ride those harleys when they first got them, not one of them could wipe the grin off his face.

Or maybe Harley threatened to close the plant and move if they didn't go all Harley all the time.

The Kansas city plant don't build the cop bikes. They build the Dynas and Sportsters. The big bikes are all built in York, Pa

Where the bikes are built has no bearing on what I said. Harley could make the same threat if the big bikes were built in China. They could still close the KC plant if KC didn't buy big Harleys. The closure would still hurt Kansas City.

Is it CRS or is it Somesheimers?
Allsheimers, you know, is the label for those who are completely nuts.
Somesheimers designates those who are only half crazy.

Why go half way? What was the question? Somesheimers can't remember sometimes, I think. Allsheimers can't remember all the time, how do they know they can't remember? Whats on second, I don't know...THIRD BASE. That was terrible.

If my words did glow
with the gold of sunshine,
and my tunes were played
on the harp unstrung,
would you hear my voice
come through the music,
would you hold it dear,
as it were your own?
It's a hand-me down.
No thoughts are spoken.
Perhaps they're better
left unsung.
I don't know,
don't really care.
Let there be songs
to fill the air.
Ooooh, Jerry. I miss him so.
