Hey just wondering how strong this stuff is.

Like if i needed a tab or two welded on my frame to hold a seat or battery you think it would do the trick?

dont wanna pay a welder $75/hour unless you know someone cheaper in michigan by east lansing/lansing area

if you build it up about 3" thick it might hold..... it's no subsitute for a real metal to metal weld on something like that

I have used JB weld a lot. not on anything like that yet. If you decide to try it ,use the Regular (not the Kwick Dry) The slow dry will be stronger and stick better DO your Surface prep well, clean and rough it up. It might work ,its great stuff.

I wouldn't do it, your putting your life at risk. JB weld is not meant tobe structural. These bikes vibrate alot. Picture this: Driving down the highway 60mph and your seat tabs break off. Your on your @$$ at 60mph, or your battery bow mounts break, battery comes crashing down into your chain, arcing all the way. Sparks fly, chain breaks, wiring shorts, you lay the bike down, hopefully it doesn't catch fire. Don't mean to be a downer but I wonder how much you'll pay the doctor. Probably more than $75/hour.
y suggestion: Check around, Lots of people are out of work right now like myself. You could probably find someone who needs the work to do it for $10-$20 hour. I know if you were in the Springfield/Dayton, Ohio area I would.

It's nowhere near as strong as you think. If you make a rod of it you could break the rod with your hands. Also, it adheres less well than regular glue.

I have used jb weld to fix the threads in the holes where headbolts screw into. If you have trouble getting it to stick, then you didn't get the metal clean enough.
On seat mount tabs, if they did break you might not even notice. The seat may shift around a little but not fall off. A battery box coming loose can give you problems.

well the battery box will be held in by bolts. the seat i just needed to stay in place is will be resting atop the frame so at least my butt wont fall through.
