Hi all,
This is a shot of my project (free to me 1980 XS650SG). I've been trying to figure out what these three leads go to. After doing some hunting online I came across a routing diagram and I think these (at least the blue/yellow and smaller red) should go to the starter switch (missing)under the rh side cover. Not sure about the big red lead, I don't see where that might go. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

Looks like the solenoid switch is missing, MikesXS sells them very reasonably. Part #24-6526

yes blue/yellow and red/white to operating wires of the starter switch, the thick red cover loom wire plug into the battery lead wire from the battery + that goes to one post of the starter switch should have a thick black wire from starter motor to the other post of starter switch

Maybe the po set it up as kick start only. It wouldn't need the starter switch and relay. Does it still have the starter ?

that loomed red wire would still have to go to B+ terminal
you can find a wiring diagram in my (jayels album) here

Thanks for the replies. It appears too that the B+ is missing. That would explain why the cable just barely reaches into the Battery box. I have not gotten far enough into the bike to look at starter. That's a good point though, maybe set up for kick start only.
Thanks again
