Okay, this is where we are at, need someone that'll recondition the head of our 650. Don't need a hot rod but would like a little performance. I don't mind shipping it, but would like to keep it close to Texas.

Well, I live in Fort Worth TX and I'm quite familiar with what makes these old beasties breath better. I've got the equipment but I don't have a flow bench....what I normally do is polish out the exhaust runners and just clean up the castings on the intake side. Believe it or not, it makes a huge difference. Swirl Polishing the valve heads is also something I do to help get the gasses where they belong more efficiently.

Swirl polishing the valves involves chucking them up in a Mill and spinning them at a slow speed while polishing the inner surfaces with a medium grit polishing drum for the intakes and a fine grit polishing drum on the exhaust. The left intake gets a counter clockwise swirl and the right gets a clockwise swirl....It may not sound like much, but it makes a noticeable difference.
Butch.
