This just arrived from Halifax yesterday for repairs in drydock and is parked next to where I work for a few days. The freighter is semi-submersible, the deck can be dropped to water-level.

It's a Canadian navy sub, the Chicoutimi. Ex Royal navy. There was a fire on board in 2004 and tragically a life was lost and injuries suffered. There was indication of human error, a hatch was open and a wave caused an electrical short resulting in fire. Looking at it, I cannot imagine working on board...

The freighter is about 600 feet and the sub is about 200.
