I can't seem to find any specific info on this and it has me concerned...

OK, when I picked up my '82 from the previous owner it already had an 18" spoked drum wheel... I know the '82 originally came with a 16" drum rear.

Ok, so the other day I was talking to a buddy of mine and he remarked how weird it was that I had a solid mounted sprocket... he said street bikes normally have cushion mounted (ie.rubber bushing) sprockets on the rear hubs, that solid mount was for off-road (normally).

So I look at my other two bikes, and sure enough, my 77 CB750 and my 70 CS3 both have cushion mounted sprockets...

OK, here is my question... is the XS supposed to have a cushion mount hub? Am I F'n my tranny up running a solid mount hub (with the extra jarring and such)?

My sprocket bolts directly to my rim mags, no cushion. I'm pretty sure they bolt right to the rim. I dont recall seeing anything on cushion rear sprocket in the manual.

I've never been inside the clutch on a bike with a cushdrive. I think they might not have the springs in the clutch hub to absorb the shocks as our 650's do. This maybe why some bikes use a cush drive. I have thought about using a rear wheel from a Suzuki Or Kawasaki To get a spoked wheel with a disc brake, seeing as how Yamaha never made one. These wheels have the cushdrive. If I can use one, the cushdrive will be an extra benefit.
