O-rings a bit of an overkill on an XS, a £20 straight heavy-duty will do , mines as 'good as new' after 3 years use ..

Cant remember, cant check ,but I think so..Anyways , Ive never spent more than £20-£25 on a chain ..If you regularily wash it & re-lubricate it sould easily last 10,000+ miles. O-ring chains arent worth the money except for a sprts/tourer bike

I tried an "O" ring chain on my '80. It wore out all of a sudden, got about the same milage as a HD chain, costs more and I still had to lube it! Why bother?

I've got the heavy duty chain from Mike's, so far so good.It is alot quieter than the stock chain, and I've gone about 200 mile's and just a little slack, first adjustment after install.'O' ri8ng chain's I figured were more for off road use ,to keep the dust out of the link's thus providing longer life.Just could't justify the extra cost,So, in my opinion, the heavy duty is fine for street use.

Do you have a farm supply around? If you do they sell a #50 heavy duty chain for somewhere around $30 bucks for ten feet. It's a little long but even cutting it to fit it's cheaper than most places.

Thanks everyone. Think I will just go with the Heavy Duty and keep it lubed. I was under the misconception the "o"ring chain was self lubing thus keeping all the crap from accumulating in the countershaft sprocket cavity............BG
