Hello,
I received the rebuild kits from Mike's XS and in pulling them apart this W.E. I discovered the 1 pc valve rubber in the kit is much thicker than the one in my petcocks.

There is just a 4 hole valve rubber in the petcock. Gasket thickness.

The replacement valve rubber is many times thicker. Maybe a 16th to an 8th of an inch.

Am I imagining things or what? Is this supposed to be that much thicker?

Help!!!!!!

OOPS! My Bad!

I pulled the front off the petcock again and it seems the thin gasket was really the fatter valve rubber pushed onto the 4 ports.

Fixed!

DUH!

Pumps,

I only have a couple of pics available on-line. Here's a link:

I love this bike. 1st and only so far. I bought it around '81 from a guy I worked with. Still mostly stock. Would like to make it more comfortable. Seat and forward foot controls. I'm 6'1" and about 200 lbs.

What mods have you done? I like the marroon '77 alot. Have you replaced/fixed the tach?

I like the blue ones a lot. Actually I haven't done much in the way of mods yet. I have replaced the tach as the one that came on it had the glass and bezel broken off of it. The gauge was just bare faced. I was able after a couple of tries to get the correct one from ebay. New bulbs in both the gauges. I am currently installing a Pamco electronic ignition. Weather has not cooperated and time has been somewhat scarce. Had the starter off, replace the upper and lower positive battery cables and the negative as the starter quit but itself checked ok. Cables were original I think. New sump and side filters. Re-torqued head bolts and cooling line banjo bolts hopefully stopping an oil leak.
One repair I did to the speedo was replace the broken trip odometer stem which was a little trickey, finding a replacement, getting the last bit of the old one off, getting the new one on and straightening the stem too.

y list is long. My funds, my patience, skills, time and everything else is short!
