Ok... so I thought I had my 82 XS running pretty good... fired right up in freezing weather, no popping when you let off the throttle... 51.5 mpg...

That is untill I saw what I was missing... WTF? I just installed Johns kit, and MAN what a difference... This thing is PEPPY!

Low to mid range, I think, is the most noticable on my bike... it'll pull hard from 10mph in second gear... before it would bog down and stumble... and smooth... and the throttle response... it's just seems to be whispering 'turn me loose...'

This is my setup... pretty much textbook what John recommends...

BS34's
135 air jet
Johns custom 46 pilots (made from 45's)
135 Main Jet
Stock needle Jets
Johns performance needles at his clip setting... No shim
'roughly' 2 turns on the mixture screws

Stock XS motor, stock timing, el' crapo' Pod filters (gotta fix that), 2-1 exhaust.

Starts with half choke and goes off choke in less than a minute...

This is a first impression, it may not even be the optimum setup for me as I just installed it yesterday... I'm going to try the shims and see if I can get even better... I'm just amazed.

I'm the kinda guy who like to figure stuff out on my own, does everthing the hard way... but I don't mind admitting when someone does it better...

Thanks XSJohn.
