Hello, I have a 81H and was running great until I lost my alternator due to bad rotor, had the rotor done by Custom Rewind great charging now, but on acceleration when cold or warming up it cuts out, after it warms up it runs great. I do not know if it is ignition or fuel I suspect fuel, any ideas?
I ride all year around when I can so it was only down when rotor was rebuilt.
Thank you for your time and response Ron

cleaning the jets wouldn't hurt just drop the bowls look for any dirt or water while you're at it, the alternator shouldn't have anything to do with the ignition but a low battery can cause your problem then as the battery comes back up to a more normal voltage as it charges back up after starting the bike will run better

Solved my fuel problem, adjust valves (10000 mile maintanance schedual) which I found too tight, adjuster surface and valve tip good on all, put teflon tape on needle seat, oring were leaking replacement orings either too tight or too loose metric or sae, sync carbs, now cold start where it should be, no cut out on acceleration hot or cold, plugs are now light brown in color, 58 mpg, strong running.

Thank you all for your help from response to forum topics

outside of the cylinder near the head....you will see also that the right is hot all the way down to the cases........disapation problem there and it builds up .....takes 10 or more miles to show the disparity and after hours it will be up there...........

Don't think all this makes it cut out though........mine used to clatter a bit on the right but never cut out or missed.........just ratty when hot....
