Hi, I've wondering how to describe the design theme that I'm trying to achieve. I guess it would be a cross between 19th century British engineering, art neuveau/deco and 1930s 40s sci fi. Fritz Lang and British Rail (steam).
I love that polished brass and copper, those flowing shapes in polished aluminium.
y current build is a mild exploration of these ideas. As my skills improve I'll try and go further down this path.

I'd really like to see and hear about your design influences. What turns you on?

I'll start with a couple of pics.

Mine is more of a combination of what I saw during the 70's and 80's growing up riding at Alices and Grizzly Peak in California with a splash of modern and a spritz of British.

I am a big fan of the bikes produced by Colorado Norton Works- but not technology - therefore can not provide a link (DOH!). If you like British roadsters (BARBARA),google Colorado Norton Works...I am quite confident that you won't be sorry!

I love the older bikes like the Broughs, Vincents & Nortons. But this is what defines a motorcycle to me:

I ended up with a very Norton design influenced ride but if you are looking for some cool stuff look at the BMW from the late 20's thru 40's especially there prototypes very cool stuff.

That Duc is so sweet! I like the 70's 80's Cafe styles too. Like 26sam10 I too was racing the same hills. I remember the RD400's and Kawasaki Kz900's tricked out. I had a Kawasaki S3 (400 triple) that I put a clean fairing on and would race the RD's every weekend. I love the clean flowing lines of a 70's racer like the pictures above. I was up on Sky line a few weeks ago, so many cops now! Ever been up to the Wall in Berkeley? Great view of SF bay!

Razar, Google up some images on a style called steampunk. If brass and copper are your thing, you'll be very pleased. There are lots of inspirational projects people have worked on. Very turn of the century industrial look.

I found this bike on 650motorcycles and just love the use of brass accents here. I've always loved that pseudo board tracker look.

My biggest design influence is my budget. If parts are cheap, free, or self-fabricated, I'm there. If I have to shell out for chrome, it does not happen. I'll have to drag up some pics & scan 'em so you all can chuckle.
