ok so i replaced all my clutch bolts and the new ones in my opions had a biger slot size then even the old worn ones, so i used a #3. bit and that would not stay in the screw so then i tryed an even biger one that came with my impact wrench and set the bike on its side so as to get my mass behind it. but still it turned out of the heads. so i was unable to use my torc wrench on em. miksxs said it was simple that i needed to use a impact wrench and so i did but im not realy sure there tight. any ideas.
wish to god id bought the hex heads but.

they just need to go down to snug tight sounds like you're going for overkill here if you're impacting them

I think we may have a problem with terminology here. If by "impact wrench" you mean air impact, it's no wonder you tore the screws up; it's also a good thing you did, since they thread into aluminum, and screws are a lot cheaper than clutch hubs. What Mike's directions say is to use an impact driver to free and seat the pressure plate screws. That's a hammer-driven tool; you just give it a couple of moderate taps.

When I worked Yamaha we used the hammer type impact because it
pushes in and turns at the same time. Never had any problems and you can tighten them with the same hammer type impact. 10 bucks well spent. Old Yamaha Mechanic John Underwood
