I am wondering if it would be at all doable to mount a sealed lead-acid battery on top of, or underneath, the swingarm. Almost on top of the pivot, battery, and container, probably not going over six pounds, but physically attached to it.

y first concern, obviously, would be excessive vibration and movement from the swingarm, well, doing what it is supposed to do. But being that is a solid, sealed cell, would it cause any inherent problems? I can't imagine it would be moving and or vibrating any more than the battery that is on my Honda(solid mount to the frame with ridiculously stiff front and rear dampers).

So, what do you guys think? And yes, I have thought aboutthe implications of adding weight to a swingarm, I must stress that this is going to be far from a race bike, obviously, the Honda as mentioned above is for that. So holding that fact aside, how bad could this be?

Steve

Edit: I just had a quick thought, hardtailed machines. Batteries mounted towards the rear, they must see a similar amount of harshness and vibration. If not more, and they seem to survive...

I would say the sealed battery might make it through the vibes, but my other concern would be the wires. If the wires constantly bend back and forth, they are eventually going to short and break.
