So I've just finished a XS Frisco Chop and I'm running triumph flat end levers. The clutch is real stiff and it wont engage until the very last squeeze.
I have adjusted the clutch adjuster as per the manual. " tighten it up until you feel some resistance then back it off a quarter of a turn.
And that's about were i run out of ideas.
Any suggestions?
Cheers

I assume you lubed the cable? Also check for routing issues, tight bends, etc. For now I'd attach the cable to the frame backbone so the pull isn't trying to straighten the cable but engage the clutch. Do the Triumph levers have adequate pull, maybe they won't work on the Yamaha mechanism.

I'm having the same problem with my 400 seca. the clutch is stiff and I do not see any kinks in the cable. I plan on lubing the cable and if that doesn't work I'll remove the cover and check the push lever assembly. I'm gonna look at it tomorrow. I'll tell you what I find...

i have found the best way to lube the cable is to take it off the bike, hang it straight up and down. make a small funnel around the upper end. fill funnel with some oil . i use 3&1 oil. any light machine oil. even motor oil works. while the funnel has oil in it move the cable core up and down. let set awhile. repeat the moving and keep the funnel full. untill oil comes out lower end. that way the cable and housing have a good coat of oil the full length. it takes awhile but last a long time. same with the throttle, tach and speedo cables.

Well I finally got around to lubing the clutch cable. I cleaned it with brake clean and sprayed Zep into the cable and until it dripped out. I let it sit for a while and then tried it out. It pulled easier and I hope it lasts.
