Wired up my 81xs today with one out of about a hundred schematics I have looked at. It was the only diagram that was in a configuration I could understand and had the correct color code for my bike. Untaped the stock loom and started pulling and snipping wires. Spliced it up, put juice to it and she sparked right over. Put the carbs on, put some gas in her and she farted in my face and caught my hair on fire, true love man.

getting closer all the time. what your doing makes since to me. i've read alot of postings where people cut, chop, paint. put it all together, then find out the engine is no good. one should dtart with the basics. make it run, ride it, then start modifying.

Ya, knew this project would force me to learn the basics. Have always worked around bikes instead of building. Thats fine if your keeping a bike stock dont get me wrong, but it sure feals good not to have to compromise and work, paint, around parts.

with a running stock bike you have a baseline to compare the mods with. if you have some experiance with these bikes skipping ahead a few steps is ok . if the bike is a partly modified basket case, then you have to work with what you got.

Good job getting your bike going. The main fuse should be a 20 amp, not 30. The 20 will prevent you from having a fire in your wiring.
