Hi all!
I re-adjusted my valves again and wondered if it's normal to hear a "ticking" sound while the motor is running. It has done it since I bought it last year.
Thanks.

These scoots tend to have more than average mechanical noise in the top end; far as a little valve clatter goes, we had a saying back in the day--"You're better off hearing your valves than smelling 'em." Some ticking from the cam chain and tappets is normal.

Hey Borris, have you adjusted the cam chain tension? That will also cut down on some of the noise you may be hearing.

A slight tick is ok. Wish it wasnt there though. Starting to hear the chain a little at 32000 miles. Old Yamaha Mechanic John Underwood

A hot adjustment does help. those adjustment screws from mikes xs with the allen head makes life alot easier. I think they are vw items.
