Time to start working on the motor. The person I puchased this thing from said the motor ran fine, but need to check before mounting. The trump frames mounting tabs are not the same as the xs and I hate to weld up mounts on the frame and decide later to put in a diff motor. Had an old motorcycle lift someone tost away in the trash and welded it up for a motor test stand. Also found a work bench someone tost and chopped the legs for a platform to work on the bike. Well time to buy a battery and start hooking up wires.

not a bad idea. if it has points then it will be easy to make run. just wire in coils hook a battery and kick start it.

thats gonna take a bit more. do you have a repair manual? they have wiring diagrams. you can figure the ignition part of the diagram and hook up enough to get it to fireup. someone on here has a link to chopper wiring diagrams. a diagram like that may help more than a stock diagram.

You bet The Choppewr underground has all that good stuff. And a couple people on this forum have steered me in the right direction on hooking it up.

I've been told the brush wiring may be wrong colors or something, one brush grounded on later models? but the basic layout is ok

The wiring to the rotor brushes looks OK for 1980 to 83. Battery supply on the brown, and regulator control on green wire.

as far as motor mounts, can you fab a set of adapters that cold bolt to the frme tabs, then bolt the xs motor to the adapter?
