I just picked up a 75 B model. My first "standard" and it's sweet with the exception of the instruments, front brakes and fork tubes and lowers. I'm thinking of swapping in the triple trees, forks and brakes from a 79 SF and yet still want to run the B model front wheel instead of the 79 cast one.

I understand the brake rotors are different? What is the difference? Can I just swap the rotors? Are there other problems with spacing, speedo or tach ratio differences?

ie....What do I have to do to run a 75 B model alloy wheel with stock disc in a 79 SF front fork & brake set up?

Thanks, Blue

hey Blue isn't the 75 still a 34mm fork? so you'll need to change out the triple clamps too, speedo and tach drives are all the same, brake disc should switch over ok same bolt pattern difference is in major dia. I think and maybe thickness, fork leg mounts for brake would be different so the 79 caliper would have to be used but no major problems doing a fork upgrade, the 79 had adjustable fork cap preloads

Put the newer '79 disc on the '75 wheel and bolt it on to the '79 front end. The wheels were all the same. I'm running a '73 or '74 wheel on my '78, just swapped discs was all.

Supah.......Since I really want to use the 79 trees, forks, instrument package, master cylinder, controls and headlight that's just what I'll do. It will look a little 'chromey' for a 75' but it will be nice to have a headlight, instruments, better suspension and brakes all of which I had just rebuilt and renewed on the 79.

Thanks Gents....just what I was hoping to hear since the 79 package with the 35mm's & preloads etc is preferred. btw the 75 instrument nacelle does not mount up to the 79 triple tree...fyi. In my case it doesn't matter since both 75 speedo, tach and headlight can were doa. Best, Blue
