I'm looking for the best place to find steering bearings for my 79' XS650.

Do all stock 650's use un-cased bearings or did someone that owned the bike before me screw these up. They are not enclosed in any case!! A first for me.

No the loose ball bearings are original. I would recomend changing to the tappered roller bearings.

Try this link www.mikesxs.com/mikesx...ory_id=6.3 and this part #28-2009

Thanks Mo:

Just what I needed. How bout' another question:

I want to slide a front end from a Suzuki GS750 on my XS650 (dual disks vs. single disk). Do you reckon that the new races and tapered bearings (which look just like those on my GS-front end) will allow it to slide right in?? The stock bearings on the GS are too big to fit the XS650 neck but maybe with those from Mikes?

Any ideas???

uch Thanks from the Mountains: David

If the necks are the same diameter, length they should work. You can also convert the XS650 front end to dual disc pretty easily, that's what i'm doing.
