So I have to admit that with every thing I know about cars and bikes, I really don't know much about light bulbs.

y low beam just burnt out, so I've been riding around using my high beams. I've decided to get a new headlight, but the only replacements out there for an '82 xs650 are halogen lights. I just bought a 60/55w 7" from JCWhittney, but will this bulb plug directly into my original headlight socket? Or another way of asking it, is the original socket a P43T?

I've been digging through my wiring harness for the past two week trying to find my voltage drop, and after cleaning up some corroded connections, I think I finally fixed it. The switch was also SNAFU and several of the soldered joints came apart, so after a little light soldering the switch is like new.

I have a Whitney light in mine and, yes, your original 3 prong headlight plug will plug right on. The P43T refers to the base of the bulb, the part that fits into the reflector, not the plug configuration on it's bottom.
