A top end freshen up is in my future over the winter time.
Just wondering if anyone has bought Mikes cylinder exchange and if so were you happy with it.
Seems like the price is good for what you are getting.
Any and all comments appriciated.
Thanks Guys and Gals!

I did a cyl exchange with Mikes a few months ago. No problems and I was very pleased. They shipped the new one to me, and I returned my core in the box the new one came in. No worries about if the pistons are right, etc. Everything just went together perfectly.

Oh.... If you are doing an overhaul, fit some elephants feet valve adjusters. (Porsche 911 or aircooled VW) I didn't know about them till after I was done, so I'll have to tear mine down again.

Thanks for the info Killer! The way Mike's explains the price confuses me.Is it you pay $399.00 USD and then he sends you $100.00 USD back for a un-damaged/rebuildable core?. Do you recall what oversize the set he sent you? Is the finished product good?(glass beading).

You've got it. He sends you $100 back after your core reaches his shop.

I got a 2nd oversize, but there's no guarantee what you'll get. There are 6 pistons available, so whatever you get its still serviceable.

The glass beading was acceptable to me. It looks to be a medium grit, and a good job with no spots missed.
