Hey guys, I'm reinstalling my stock pipes, and I inserted new header gasgets, but when I insert the pipe, the crown looking collar doesn't go all the way flush with the jug. Not even close. I don't want to overtighten and snap the stud..... I don't know what to do... It seems, now I just said SEEMS like if the gasget wasn't there it would be more snug. Are those gasget needed? has anyone run without them? I'm just asking......Any ideas? Shocked

Should go down to about 1/16th of a gap , s'what's on mine.
Any more of a gap than that? Check to make sure there's no old gasket in there.

The finned collar on my 80 is Id gues 1/16"-1/8th away from the head and it is tight and original that is the way they go.
