How much you got to spend? A lot depends on what you are willing or able to do yourself. You looking for stock or horsepower? You going to clean up or replace the bearings? Keeping the carbs? Porting and polishing the head? It all adds up.

ive got a good friend that is much better than i at this stuff so he would be helping me. i would only replace the bearings as needed. i know all the oil seals are bad. looking to stay stock on the bore though did find a 707 kit with pistons and rings for like 275 bucks. i have another buddy that would clean up the head. so am i looking at like 200-300 bucks or like 400 up? i really just want to keep it stock bore its in good shape and really only needs rings but i figure i got it out of the bike i mise well go through it.

You can visually inspect the three roller crank bearings but the right side is tricky........the ball bearing on the right can cause vibrations and engine teardown if not totally smooth.......visually inspect it with a magnifying glass to see if there is any pits especially in the inner race.......they grow fast and if rough they will make for a crappy and noisy running engine............and lots of head scratching.........
Clean well with brake cleaner and lightly oil and spin them...
