carbs guys i need your help

1977 xs650 with air pod filters open exhaust and im rebuilding carbs whats the best set up . heres what i have in bike which ran fine till i ran berrymans thru gas z8 needle jet, 127.5 main, 25 pilot , needle is 4jn19 set on second notch from narrow end of needle any help will be grateful

Your needle is from an older carb set. If you have tuning problems, I suggest you get some originals, 4M1s. Stock setting is 3rd slot from the top (middle slot) on that one. Stock setting for the 4JN19 is 4th slot from the top so it appears to be at the right setting. Mikuni needle clip positions are always counted from the top down.

There are several rubber parts in the carbs. Running that Berryman's through them could have damaged them. I know when I soaked an old needle jet with the o-ring still on it in some Berryman's, it destroyed it.

yea the rubber o-rings are trashed im running open exhaust and air filters should i use stock jets and needles and settings

also the previous owner said it fouled plugs alot
