Third motor this year with a bad left cylinder. whats up with that. 2 with bad rings and now my own has a bad intake valve seal. Loudon is in 2 weeks and I need to take the motor out. Now i'm after that xsjohn to find out how to make the left cylinder hotter to match the right cylinder. obviously the right cylinder is better. See a thread a couple weeks ago with a bad left cylinder actually it was last week looking for a piston for the left side. I think John is going the wrong direction.

That would surely do it.....then just use a glow plug...and then just take the valve seal out of the right to match.......xsjohn
in all seriousness.....if you use big mains it can wash the rings on the left.....and the right for that matter.....

that would keep the bugs down, boy don't this thing smoke. Pulled the carbs off and the intake valve looks and feels like it is opec. The bike only has 16,000 on the clock so hoping its not valves and guides. But there is a definite seal issue. Going to do a leak down today. Only seals I don't have in stock are valve seals. Actually the only part to do a top end I don't have is the seals. Wish i could get them locally. I also have a abundance of heads here too. guides ,valves etc. I didn't want to tear into this engine right now cause I haven't ported a head for it yet and really don't have the time to do it right now. But I am not going to waist a gasket set and do a valve job without porting the head so guess what I will be doing the rest of the week.

Speaking of bad cylinders, I think my left cylinder is a bit weak. I changed the coil, regapped the points, played with the timing, nothing. I'm not getting power after 3000rpm's. A compression test may shed some light. I also noticed the pipe was not getting hot as quickly as the right side. Help...

Today I had the pleasure of finding out that my timing was off, aswell as the points. After adjustments the bike wouldn't start. That was when I found out I was out of gas. We have also narrowed it down to a dirty carb, but she is alive once again.
