General question comments would be appreciated. does 2 to 1 exhaust increse flow? seems like it would restrict it.

I only know regarding Harleys, but it them, a 2 into 1 increases flow but only very slightly. Not enough to need rejetting or anything. How that relates to an XS650, I couldn't say.

Bottom-end up to just below mid-range performance should be ok or slightly improved with 2-1 but will be strangle performance above that!
Stick to 2-2 if you can ..You need to get those gasses out as quickly & efficiently as possible !

Welp, the bike might have a problem with dragging in right-handers, not left. I have a set of Mac 2-1s on my '81 and, like ponyjr, I've never dragged mine. I'll drag my right shoe every now and again, and I figure that's far enough over as I need to go.

When I bought my bike, the Mac system had already been installed. I've always had a problem with the muffler not fitting tight on the headers. It won't slip on far enough. I have an '80 garage queen with the same set, but its muffler is nice and tight. So, I guess there might be some variability from one set to another.

Best,

ichael
