I got new bronze bushings for my swingarm. I removed the swingarm and the little plastic bushing devils are absolutely stuck inside. I went in and tried to knock them out from the inside with a long screwdriver like I do for steering head beaarings, but they simply break off and chip and do not budge. I tried to pull them off with a tool from the outside and the lips crack off. Anyone got a trick for removing them? I have a new bolt and bushings and sleeve so I can damage the one I am trying to remove as much as I want since it is being replaced.

The bolt and its old sleeve slid out fine and there was lots of grease still in there. LOTS!

It's easy. Take a propane hand torch and burn the plastic bushings. They'll shrink and flick right out with no impaction.

Heat them. That will cause a horrible stink with all that grease. OK. I will give it a try.

You won't be burning much grease. Put the flame right on the plastic and don't just heat it, burn it till it shrinks.
