I have a jet black 1979 XS650 Special II. Original engine with probably about 10k miles on it. Would have to check to be certain because i swapped the speedo last summer.
Mostly original but the original ignition is not in place and was replaced with a key switch with is mounted on the right side cover, i did away with the vaccum petcock system and made them flow through with a inline fuel cutoff on both sides and the original fuse block didnt make it through the years so it is currently wired with inline fuses.
The bike runs quite well and is jet black, i am in East TN and am thinking of asking around $600 for it. Is this reasonable in your opinion?

I think it is very reasonable, and if I had the monrey I would buy it right now! I paid $710 for mine ('78 Special) and was happy with the price. I know some have paid much less, but I also know some have paid much more too. If the bike runs, $600 seems like a very reasonable price, and you might even be able to go to a grand.

Not that I'm interested in the bike ( I have 4 runners at present), but where are you in east Tenn.? My daughter is finishing her 2nd year at The University of the South in Mt. Eagle. Just wondering if you are close. That is a fair price on the bike, but I also think you could do better, but you never know. David

Well I think it is actually Mount Eagle, but it is about 45 miles west of Chattanooga on I-24, I was just wondering. David
