what is the best way to test the regulator, rectifier, and Starter Relay Solenoid if they are off the bike... also I have a 75 xs650 and the wiring harness has been butchered by PO so what other charging system componets am I missing to test. (I have a new magneto on the way....)

hey bulldog PM me your email address and I'll sent you some info (can't sent pics in PM) as far as the starter solenoid it's just a electromagnetic switch two small wires (neither grounded to outer case) applying 12v acrossed them enegizes coil pulling in plunger to make contact acrossed two large posts (from battery to starter motor)
