you should close them every time. The gasket is available from a local yamaha dealer or mikesxs.com where it's Part #20-7029

edit: I don't mean you should close them while you use the bank machine for a minute or something, just close them when the bike is going to be parked for a while.

I hate to pay shipping on one or two little things too. You can get to yamaha's parts catalog from their site www.yamaha-motor.com/s.../home.aspx

lookup the part number for your gasket on there and the local yamaha shop should be able to get it in about a week. no shipping charges.

(I forgot, the last time I looked at this catalog they'd messed it all up. It used to work, but it's probably best to just talk to the guys at the store)

If you can afford fucking silicone, you can afford a float bowl gasket - 'nuff said.

shannon60 obviously you have not met 3bond 1104 yet. 2cycle crankcase sealer. works in carbs to in a pinch. I use it excluseofly.

3 bond 1104 is now officially discontinued due to environmental concerns - I think I read that it makes your nuts fall off.

It has been replaced by a new product from 3 bond -- forget the number - but if you really like 1104 - stock up on it while you can!
