you caught me norterplains, I am a mechanic not a scholer {if thats right).
A doner is a cheap bike for parts, need not run cause im just going to tear it apart and use the pieces to build a custom motorcycle. I am looking at a fj600 presently. but dont know exactly what I am going to do. But that is pretty much explained in original post. damn hate offending people for being a iliterate person such as i am.

Do you have Microsoft Word? Once you type something up you want to post you can copy and paste it in a new Word document. Do a spell check and boom, it will search for misspelled words and even detect incorrect grammar. That's if you really give a sh*t. It will help us understand you better. Just a thought.

A donner bike very possibly could be one left in the Donner Pass.....but no one can be really sure since they ate themselves..........

Well, yeah, John, that's the etymology of the term "donner bike;" it's one you obtain with intent to cannibalize it. Good luck with the build, Roy; think there's inspiration here for a project name? Like "Cannibal," or "People Eater," or maybe "Headhunter?"

northenplains I see ol' Bill sold you the domestic version of word. For a little more money he'll sell you the full version or you could run it through again and when it comes to cheque click the add to dictionary button. This is a handy little freebie that runs off the task bar.

My browser (Foxfire) has a spell checker built in. As I type out a message, it underlines any spelling errors in red. A right click on the offending word provides correct spelling choices. Very easy to use and I feel there's no excuse not to. It makes me look smarter than I really am and no one would ever guess that I sign my pay checks with a big "X" Smile

Thanks pumps
I am in a mess with my spelling here I guess no one understands me. netscape doesnt have a spell checker in its bag of tools. I dont know why but the types of bikes i am after there doesnt seem to be any around. But then again the scrap metal boys are cleaning eveything out. There will be none left before long. They have no concept for treasures just the dollar now. Which means those of us who can store up this stuff need to do so, because once its gone its gone forever.

Wouldn't a "donner" bike be a bike that eats other bikes?

That lets the air into the airbox john? To the filters? What does the fiche call it ? Cracked me up on the microfiche they call the chain guard a "chain case".
