My old friend Britbike Jim just sent me this pic of a V8 sprint car motor based on 4 Triumph cylinder blocks.



Sure would be nice in a bike or a trike, huh? Now some mechanical genius needs to make one from XS650 cylinders. Look out Vmax riders!

I guess my question is 'why'? It is nice engineering and well done but would probably be so troublesome as to be almost useless. Ot looks like 2 single barrel carbs.

Barrels and heads are pre-unit Triumph, carbs are Stromberg 97s like the hot rodders used in the '50s. No reason it couldn't be made to run just fine in a race car.

Here's a V8 with FZ barrels and 5 valve heads. Now this thing would make serious power!

That first photo is awesome. I'd love to have had something like that in my old Triumph TR4a.
