This may sound like a stupid question, but could someone post some pictures of how their sissybar is mounted onto their bike? I've been looking at my bike, and scratching my head trying to figure out how it works with the grab bar. I have an '81 xs650.

Take a look at this one:

It seems that most people with Specials, like your 81, replace the stock grab rail with either a sissy bar the've bought (back in the day, I suppose), or one they've fabricated.

Best,

ichael

If you look real close - the sissy bar runs parallel to the grab bar on the outside (on mine and on the pic above) one end mounts to the top shock bolt right where the grab bar does - at the back - it mounts where the turnsignals are mounted. (in most sissybars there are new holes for the turnsignals).

Heres how I attached mine. picasaweb.google.com/h...syBarMount
I hope that works it was easier the I thought to get them posted.

I replaced the stock grab bar and used the same holes and bolts.
I'm pretty happy with it. if I get time I may make another. The second try would turn out better.
It works great to haul stuff. If you have some zip ties wow.
Also Sorry No show bike here, I've rode the wheels off it and am excited to get some new parts so its ready to ride if it ever warms up and stops snowing. Hopefully bath and shine up it could sure use it.
Hope that helps ya
