Finished my '77 for now...

I finished up my 1977 XS650 a few months ago and I've been so busy riding it I haven't gotten a chance to take a good picture of it until recently. I'm still working a few kinks out, like trying to figure out why it fouls the left plug about once every two weeks. I just clean it with a wire wheel and put it back in and its like new, its just annoying. I'm going to eventually put some knobby tires on it and get some scrambler pipes from Omar's and paint them black, but for now it's done. The cafe seat from caferace.com works great and I made the pad myself out of luan and a yoga mat and some vinyl. Out of the 6 or 8 bikes I've owned, this one is my favorite and isn't going anywhere for a while.

Looking good there, DJ. I've had my eyes on the caferace seats for a while. I like the way they're supposedly contoured to fit the frame, but it looks like yours is riding on top of the frame?

I notice you've got a different master cylinder. Is that one of the ones that MikesXS sells? How do you like its performance compared to the stock one?

Well it works fine for me. I don't know what the stock one feels like because when I bought the bike (for $350) the master cylinder was bad and so I just replaced the whole unit instead of trying to deal with the whole rebuild process. It was plug and play though with the one that was there. I should have ordered the angled one, but as long as you remember to turn the bars when you open the reservoir its fine. Everything I ordered from Mike's was great though. I paid $350 for the bike and I have about $1600 in it now and about $900 of that was parts from Mike's.

haha that shock leaks a little oil when i corner hard. it's on the list but it'll get taken care of sooner or later. i need to fill/paint the tank, too but i can't bring myself to take it off the road long enough to do it.
