ok heres my latest problem, its not worrying me too much but may lead to worse things if i dont deal with it now...

the brake/tail indicator comes on sometimes. the bike is a little hard to start (carbies i think) but the stop/tail lamp does go out while im kicking her over (on the kick stroke).

the warning light only comes on sometimes. it doesnt matter weather the lights are on or not. usually it comes on under acceleration, not coasting. also sometimes i notice the lights will click from bright to a little duller at times....

any hints guys? i havent checked the brushes yet and today im removing/bypassing the reserve lighting unit. (thanks to a very helpful previous thread on this site)....

thanks!

I've had a similar problem, and it turned out just to be the rear break switch. the return spring on the switch was jammed up and wouldnt release once the rear breaks where depressed, and when I excellerated it flickered because the vibrations of the bike were pulling on the spring causing it to trigger the break lights. Just replaced the switch and all was gravy.

hmmm, i didnt think of that - ive checked the rear brake switch on the stand, but not on the road. i did have a problem before with the front brake switch making the brake light come on - but not the dashboard warning lamp...
thanks for the hint mate, ill check it out tomorrow....
(after i finish re-assembling my carbys!)....
