The 650RIDER is the forum for wacky ides so here is one for everyone to bat around. My concept is very simple but I have never seen it implimented except by a manufacturer and then it is engineered in.

An oil cooler can be used for engine cooling also if the amount of oil flow can be increased and the extra flow directed to the head. An extra, add-on electric oil pump would be perfect for this. The sump would be tapped to supply a small electric pump. The pump would force oil through a cooler and into the head spraying/flowing cool oil onto the exhaust area, the hottest part of the engine. The pump will be triggered by a thermo switch so it will only run when the sump oil is hot.

The problem with the cooler to the head is......the cylinders still get hot and the cooler while it does remove 20-25 degrees from the head in the summer the under finned cylinders can get really hot.....richer mixtures is the only way I have found to help relieve this problem.....for example my (epa) 80 was seeing 270 or more degrees cylinder temps while the head was 240 or so in the hot summer with the cooler.......I managed to get the cylinders to peak at 250 with correct mixtures andrun a ton better......
